Folding a Handkerchief For Black Tie Attire

The More Formal Way to Fold a Handkerchief

If you are about to dress up for a formal event with suit and bow tie, then you may want to add a pocket square to your outfit. The best, and pretty much only choice for traditional black tie attire is a crisp white pocket square. Not only the type of pocket square will matter, but the type of fold you choose is just as important. While casual pocket square folds are well suited for business attire with classic 2-piece suit or blazer and a necktie, formal outfits require a "cleaner look". Below are instructions on the so-called "Presidential Pocket Square Fold".

Instructions

1. Lay the Pocket Square on a flat and clean surface
2. Fold it in half along the middle
3. Fold in one side just enough so that about 1/4 inch will show.
