The Italian luxury fashion house, Dolce and Gabbana, was founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in 1982. Initially the company focused exclusively on women's fashion and in 1985 released their first major women's clothing collection. Soon the company established itself with a reputation as a high-end, luxury clothing brand. The company opened their first store in Milan in 1987, and followed with a store in New York three years later in 1990. In 1993 the company opened their slightly lower priced brand D&G brand. Today Dolce and Gabbana has more than 50 stores worldwide and has an estimated annual revenue of close to $1 billion.
Although the company initially was centered around women's clothing, the company now offers quite a large collection of mens clothes. The first men's collection was offered in 1990 and had a similar mix of sexiness and traditional style as their women's collection. Besides clothes, the company now offers accessories such as watches, sunglasses, shoes, and also perfume.
