French Connection

The French Connection is an upscale English clothing company founded by Stephen Marks in 1969; though it was not until 1972 that Marks released clothing under the French Connection label.

Originally the French Connection existed as an upscale women's wear label however four years after its debut the label incorporated menswear.

The French Connection enjoyed good market share in its early years though fell out of fashion in the 80s and early 90s. In 1997 the brand was reinvigorated with an expensive new marketing campaign that focused on the brands highly suggestive initials fcuk (French Connection United Kingdom). This innovative and racy marketing campaign was a hit with audiences and the French connection once again became a popular brand especially amongst young people. Today the French connection sells much more than just cloths and incorporates fcuk branded home furnishings, beauty products, alcoholic drinks, footwear and even condoms under their corporate umbrella.
