A bulcher is a style of leather dress shoe that is more commonly referred to as a Derby or Gibson shoe, and incorrectly referred to as an oxford shoe. The most distinguishing feature of a blucher is the fact that it is open laced. This means that the tongue of the shoe is made from the same piece of leather as a part of the shoe that goes over the toes, yet is not connected to the pieces of leather that hold the lace holes. Whereas the majority of shoes have a connection between the bottom of the tongue and the bottom of the bits of leather that except the lace holes, the bulcher has no such connection.
