Yarn is created by twisting fibers together to create a cohesive thread, This method is called "spinning" and dates back to over 20,000 years ago. Yarn can be made out of a single fiber or a blend using different materials. A common yarn blend is polyester-wool - an inexpensive yarn that combines the comforting qualities of natural wool with the high strength and easy to care for man-made polyester. A yarn is made from different strings, called ply, that are twisted together.
