Marc Jacobs is a popular American fashion designer and the creator of the Marc Jacobs label as well as Marc by Marc Jacobs, and the children's line Little Marc. In addition to running his own label he is also the creative director of Louis Vuitton.

Marc Jacobs began aspiring to his career in fashion at a young age with his attendance at the High School of Art and Design in New York City and later the famous Parsons School for Design. While at Parsons Jacobs was awarded the Perry Ellis Gold thimble award following his creation of a hand knit line of sweaters sold by Charivari. Before graduating Jacobs was also awarded the Chester Weinberg Gold thimble award and the design student of the year award.

After Parsons Jacobs found work at Perry Ellis and became the vice president for women's wear in 1988. Jacobs is widely regarded as reinvigorating the Perry Ellis brand with bold colors and novel ideas. Jacobs was dismissed from Perry Ellis in 1993 following his critically acclaimed grunge collection as the collection did not fit with the image of the company.

Today Mark Jacobs clothing can be found in upscale department stores as well as in branded boutique shops that carry the most expensive items of the Marc Jacobs collections.
