Felt

Felt is one of the oldest types of cloth known to men. In Turkey remains have been found dating back to over 6500 BC. Legend has it that felt was discovered by Saint Clement and Saint Christopher. They were fleeing from persecution, and to prevent blisters they packed wool at the bottom of their sandals. After miles of walking the first felt cloth was created.

Today felt still has a wide range of uses. It is used as a construction material, in the automotive industry, furniture (think poker and pool tables), as well as in clothing. In fashion felt is occasionally used for collars and sleeves on outdoor clothing and hunting jackets.
