While seeming a solid color from a distance, closer inspection reveals a delicate cross design inside of a geometric square pattern, which gives the tie a visual texture as well as being pleasing to the touch.  A subtle, minuscule polka dot grid covers the entire tie and adds an overall, yet unconscious color appearance.
