Tie width comparison: European and Amercian ties

Since the mid 90s not much has changed in the width of the standard sized necktie. In the US the majority of ties measure between 3.5 and 3.75 inches in width. Although the skinny tie exists and is a fashionable piece of neckwear it is uncommon in the male business attire.

In 2008 most European designers go back to slightly narrower designs for their neckties. Although still far from a typical retro skinny tie, the current tie trend in Europe has the width of the tie between 8 and 8.5cm (about 3 to 3.25 inches).

At ties necktie we carry ties from European designers that are specifically tailored to the slightly wider American ties. Depending on the design, we carry regular sized ties measuring a width between 3.25 and 3.75 inches. This way you can enjoy the best of both worlds.
