Three Great Looks for Your Skinny Knit Ties

A few weeks ago we announced the arrival of BlackBird's new summer knit ties - a collection of skinny silk knits available in 16 colors. Despite very little marketing and advertising of this new collection, it didn't take long for it to become a top seller, with many of the most popular colors selling out within just a few weeks (all have been re-ordered and are back in stock). Because skinny knit ties are such a popular accessory, especially among younger and fashion forward men, we have decided to spend an entire day on a styling session. If you are a fan of these ties, or have been thinking about adding one to your rotation, here are three great looks using this trendy accessory:
#1: The Cardigan

Another clothing piece that has been making a re-apperance in men's fashion is the cardigan. It is perfect for smart/casual street-wear, and it can be dressed up just as easily as it can be dressed down. One way to dress up the cardigan is with a dress shirt, and a knitted necktie. Want it to be even more dressy? Then add a sports coat or blazer to the look, and swap your jeans for cotton chinos. A pair of light brown loafers, leather boat shoes, or classic oxfords will finish off this ensemble. It is a perfect look for brisk summer days!


#2: The Gingham Shirt

Solid colored ties are perfect for all your patterned dress shirts, be it stripes or bold checks. The same is true for solid knit ties whose textured look adds yet another interesting element to your ensemble. One of the perfect combinations for a knit tie is the gingham check shirt. Pair this with either V-neck sweater or sports coat, and you got yourself a hip business look that could just as well be worn outside of your daily office routine.

#3: Navy Blazer & Light Colored Chinos

Want to go for a more nautical look, one that screams east coast preppy like few other ensembles? The pairing a solid navy knit tie with a navy blazer, striped dress shirt (white and blue narrow striped), and white chinos will be perfect. Add a pair of Sperry Top Slicer boat shoes, and you will be the best dressed fella in all of Martha's Vineyard.
