Three Stylish Office Summer Suits for 2013

Are you dreading the hot summer days when dressed in suit and tie? Without doubt, a dark colored wool suit, starched white shirt, and tightly tied necktie, worn on a hot summer day in downtown Atlanta, doesn't sound fun. But before blaming your strict office dress code for your discomfort, you may want to take a look at some more comfortable, but equally business-appropriate, outfits. Light Colors

One of the easiest ways to stay cool in warmer weather is by wearing lighter colors. Avoid dark suits such as the business-popular midnight blue and charcoal, and swap them for suits in light stone-gray, beige, or tan. Please note, that while beige and tan suits are very popular for summer, they are also slightly less dressy compared to a light gray suit. Also, beige and brown suits should be reserved for during the day and are slightly less suited for evening attire. Suits in beige tones pair exceptionally well with pastel colored neckties, golden accessories (cufflinks, tie bars, belt buckle), as well as brown leather footwear.

Linen

Linen suits are the perfect semi-formal summer piece. While a bit "less business dressy", they can indeed be worn to the office. To wear this piece to work, you should opt for blue tones, rather tan tans and off-whites (which will look like you are heading to a beach wedding). Also, make sure that the suit is neatly pressed and show minimal wrinkles. Because linen suits do wrinkle very easily, you should always take off your jacket when sitting down or driving a car.

Cotton

Cotton is a perfect warm weather fabric that, compared to linen, is much more care-free. What makes cotton so great for summer is the fabric's lightweight and breathability. While cotton is typically less dressy then wool, choosing a slightly darker color can make up for it. Best for business are cotton suits in blue. Charcoal and grays are typically not a good idea as the contrast of formal color and "casual fabric" can cause a disconnect. Very popular also are tan and beige cotton suits. These pieces are perfect for summer weddings but slightly less suited for business.
